The Carolina Panthers 2014 Free Agent Signings Analysis

The Carolina Panthers do enough in the off season to win the NFC South?  The Carolina Panthers in-depth analysis of the free agents signed and players lost for the 2014 NFL season. Will these additions help The Carolina Panthers build on their 2013 season and win the NFC South in 2014?

The Carolina Panthers went 12-4 in the 2013 season and made the Playoffs. Known all year for a powerhouse defense, that covered up a weak offense; GM Dave Gettleman decided to throw caution to the wind and gutted his entire receiver corps and rebuilt targets for Cam Newton from the ground up. Signing free agent WRs; Jerricho Cotchery, Tiquan Underwood and Jason Avant and drafting WR Kelvin Benjamin will quickly make fans forget future Hall of Fame receiver Steve Smith. I think the new receivers are a better fit for Cam Newton and excited to see their offense play at a higher level. GM Gettleman didn't forget about the defense and got a steal in the 2nd round drafting DE Kony Ealy. Read my article, 2014 Carolina Panthers NFL Draft Report Card and Player Analysis and find out why I think GM Dave Gettleman is one of the best in the NFL.

Can The Carolina Panthers make it to the playoffs again in 2014?

It's not an easy thing to make consecutive playoffs in the NFC South. It is a competitive division and all the teams have upgraded due to an increase in the salary cap and a stocked 2014 NFL draft. I think the Panthers will rely again on their defense and I think they will repeat and make the playoffs. I am still not convinced they have the depth or talent on offense to make it to the Super Bowl. I'm still not a believer in QB Cam Newton being the guy to count on in clutch situations. Hoping that Cam makes me a believer this year, if he doesn't, time for the Panthers to find a conventional pocket passer.
