Joe Philbin is the Head Coach for the Miami Dolphins. Here are 10 interesting facts about him.



Joe Philbin who was born on July 2, 1961 in Springfield, Massachusetts He is the Head Coach for the Miami Dolphins and has been coaching in college and in the NFL since 1984.

Facts #1:


Joe Philbin played one year while attending Washington and Jefferson College graduating in 1984 with a degree in sociology. In 1986, he was a graduate assistant at Tulane University on the football team and graduated with a Masters of Education degree in Administration and Supervision.



Facts #2:


Joe Philbin started his college career coaching at Tulane as a graduate assistant. In 1986, he was h9ied to be an Offensive Line Coach at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 1988, he was hired by the United States Merchant Marine Academy to be the Offensive Line Coach. From 1990 to 1993, he was the Offensive Line Coach and Offensive coordinator for Allegheny College. In 1994, he was the Offensive Line Coach for Ohio University. For the 1995 and 1996 season he was the Offensive Line Coach and the Offensive Coordinator for Northeastern University. In 1997, he wen to Harvard University taking on he Offensive Line coaching duties as well as being the Offensive Coordinator. From 1999 to 2002, Joe was the Offensive Line Coach for he University of Iowa. He took his job even though he was offered the head coaching position at his alma mater, Washington and Jefferson College.

Joe Philbin in 2003 transitioned to the NFL landing his first job with the Green Bay Packers. He started out as the Assistant Offensive Line Coach. For the 2004 and 2005 season, he was promoted and Tight End Coach was added to his duties. In 2006, he took over and became the primary Offensive Line Coach.

Joe Philbin was the Offensive Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers from 2007 to 2011. As the Offensive Coordinator, the Packers were ranked in the top 10 every year in total offense. Points scored and total yards.

Joe Philbin as Offensive Coordinator for the Green Bay Packers led he team to one Super Bowl victory, two 1st place finishes, two 2nd place finishes and one 3rd place.

Joe Philbin was hired by the Miami Dolphins to be their 10th head coach of the franchise on January 20, 2012.

Joe Philbin lost his 21 year old son, Michael to an accidental death related to alcohol in 2012.

Joe Philbin most likely legacy will be that of Bully-gate.” Which was the Richie Incognito and Jonathan Martin drama that saw both players leave because of bullying in the locker room which Joe Philbin claims he was unaware of happening.

Joe Philbin career record since taking over the Miami Dolphins is 15-17 and no playoff berths. 2013 season saw Ryan Tannehill becoming the most sacked QB in the NFL and was an insight that maybe Aaron Rodgers was the reason for Philbin's success in Green Bay.

Joe Philbin was not the first choice by team owner Steve Ross. Jeff Fisher was the first choice but took the St. Louis Rams offer of $7 million per year. With he firing of Jeff Ireland and the hiring of Dennis Hickey, it is a do or die year for Philbin. Personally, I don't see him being he Head Coach in 2015.
