Geno Smith is the QB for the New York Jets. Here are 10 interesting facts about him.



Geno Smith was born, Eugene Cyril Smith III, on October 10, 1990 in Miami, Florida. He plays QB for the New York Jets and been in the NFL since 2013. He was selected by the New York Jets in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft, the 39th overall.

Geno Smith attend Miramar High School, as a junior, he passed for 25 touchdowns, 2200 yards passing and three interceptions. He was named to the Second Team All-State as a Quarterback.

Geno Smith was highly recruited by Florida State, Boston College, Alabama and West Virginia, because of a huge senior year in high school. He passed for 3,000+ yards, rushing for another 300+ and throwing 30 TD. He was named the #1 rated player in Broward county, Florida and the runner up in the Mr. Florida vote.

Geno Smith like many freshman only saw small opportunities to play. He did finish his freshman year with a 81.1 QBR. His Sophomore year in 2010, he was the starting QB for the West Virginia Mountaineers where he finished that year with 2,763 yards passing, 24 TDs, 7 INTs, and 217 yards rushing.

Geno Smith had a lucky break in his Junior season when West Virginia hired new head coach, Dana Holgorsen, who was more passionate about a strong passing game and Geno's numbers instantly got better. He finished his Junior year passing for 4,385 yards, 65.8 completion percentage, 31TDs and 7 INTs. He didn't rush at all cause that was just not how the Mountaineers pass system was set up.

Geno Smith had an amazing senior year and talk of him going in the first round was inevitable with two huge college seasons in a row. His senior year stat totals for West Virginia were 4,205 yards passing, 42 TDs, 6 INTs and 161 yards rushing with an additional two TDs on the ground.

Geno Smith hired Jay-Z sports agency, Roc Nation Sports, to represent him. Smith signed a rookie contract paying him $5 million over 4 years with $690k in workout bonuses.
