The Buffalo Bills 2014 Free Agent Signings Analysis

The Buffalo Bills do enough in the off season to win the AFC East?  The Buffalo Bills in-depth analysis of the free agents signed and players lost for the 2014 NFL season. Will these additions help The Buffalo Bills turn around their 2013 season and win the AFC East in 2014?

The Buffalo Bills need to improve on their 2013 season finish of 6-10. Being in a much improved AFC East makes for an upward battle. Last year Rookie QB E.J. Manuel was injured for most of the season and the Bills could not find a groove. The performance of C.J. Spiller was a huge hurdle for the Bills and is a focal point for improvement in 2014. Adding Anthony Dixon will give them an alternative future back if the difficulties continue for Spiller. The Bills add a pass rushing DE Jarius Wynn and get a versatile, every down linebacker with Keith Rivers. Both of these players offer replacements for DE Alex Carrington and OLB Arthur Moats. The Bills traded up and drafted WR Sammy Watkins and that should elevate their passing game. OT Cyrus Kouandjio upgrades their offensive line and will give QB Manuel added time to throw as well as opening some holes for he running game to develop. Read what I thought about the Buffalo Bills draft in my article, 2014 Buffalo Bills NFL Draft Report Card and Player Analysis. Branden Spikes and CB Corey Graham complete the defensive pieces to this overall better defense.

  • Corey Graham, CB--7th season, signed from The Baltimore Ravens

Can The Buffalo Bills make it to the playoffs in 2014?

No way the Bills are better than any other team in the AFC East. They area distant 4th to even the third place Jets. Buffalo needs a better QB and E.J. Manuel just isn't the guy. Gonna be a long winter in Buffalo and it will be compounded by the new owner's efforts to moving the team and destroying what is left of the city of Buffalo. Buffalo just isn't built to beat Miami or New England.
