New York Giants 2014 Free Agent Signings Analysis

The Giants Totally Overhaul Their Team and Depth Chart for 2014. The New York Giants in-depth analysis of the 31 free agents signed for the 2014 NFL season and where they will fit in on the roster. Will these additions help the New York Giants improve on their 2013 season and get them to the NFL playoffs in 2014?

Not many people talking about the New York Giants and the off-season. I was doing my annual research on what each team needs for the NFL draft and was amazed at the total overhaul the Giants made between last season's free agent signings and this years.

Giants Total Team Overhaul

The Giants signed 31 free agents in the off season this year. That's a huge number. General Manager Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin have been some really busy people. This is proof that executive roles with NFL teams are a 24/7 year round job. GM Jerry Reese did a great job this offseason replacing lost players and adding to the depth chart. You can see below who the Giants lost and immediately tell who they signed to replace them. You can see that between the signings and the NFL draft they have replaced all that was lost and have a brand new secondary. Giants have added to their QB and offensive line depth. Read my in-depth analysis on the 2014 New York Giants NFL Draft Report Card and Player Analysis and how they will fit in the Giants short and long term plans.

Last year is history; This year is a mystery

The Giants went 7-9 last year but it was an uglier season than the record suggest. They were lucky not to go 4-12. The Giants have totally renovated their team in the last two years. This season is about correction. Best QBs in the league can't perform being constantly harassed. Will Eli Manning correct his INT issue?  Will the Giants better protect him to allow him to make the necessary corrections and implement them?

The New Additions to the New York Giants 2014 Roster

The addition of speedster wide receiver Odell Beckham will be instrumental in a turnaround for the Giants. Is addition will allow for Victor Cruz to be the possession receiver moving the chains. The trade for Rashad Jennings, the resigning of Peyton Hillis and the drafting of Andre Williams should get the Giants back to Ground and Pound football. I don't see the Giants beating their division rivals this year and don't expect them to make the playoffs but they should look dramatically better and give fans a hope that things are trending upwards.
