Great Mexican Restaurants in Downtown Las Vegas at the Fremont

Downtown Las Vegas aka The Fremont Experience is the hip place to go in Las Vegas. No need for a car, everything is in a 5 block walking area and most places offer cheap drinks and cheap food. Free entertainment nightly under the Visa Vision as well as the free shows on the hour, every hour from 7pm till Midnight. Book your hotel in the Fremont district and you can get loaded and stumble your way to the hotel. What a good time you will have Downtown that you will hate the Strip. Also a great place to get Mexican cuisine.

Mexico is a few short hours drive from Las Vegas, which makes it a huge Mexican community which means authentic Mexican cuisine is on the menu.

$5 Margaritas and Spicy Nachos are my favorite here to start off the meal. Enchiladas de Mariscos are to die for. Tender shrimps grilled perfectly wrapped in two soft flour tortillas and then smothered in a spicy marinara sauce that has been passed down for generations. OMG!! My second favorite dish is the fried Chilean Sea Bass tacos. Again its like a flavor bomb went off in your mouth. I asked the waitress how the chef makes these and they won't tell. I'd pay serious money for that recipe because I am sure it is more than just fried, I am thinking it's poached in butter first and then fried but who knows. Order two, you won't leave a crumb on the plate. The service here is amazing and you will most likely head to the bar afterward as the place is so friendly, it's addicting. They have an outdoor seating area, so if you would like to dine al fresco, you will be in people watching heaven.

Real Mexican food by Real Mexicans. That's the sign above the restaurant. This is a very cool restaurant as it is in Downtown Container Park. Container Park is an enclosed shopping area where every store is made from a shipping container from a ship. It is a place where all the stores are owned by local Las Vegans and the entire area is environmentally committed to recycling everything and using "green" technology wherever possible. A definite place for everyone to visit and also get stupidly good authentic Mexican food by Mexicans.

My typical order: Carne asada Burritos, Chicken Mole Burrito, Corn on the cob smothered with mayonnaise(SHUT UP!!), and a ½ liter Mexican Bottle Coke to wash it down. For you newbies, Mexican coke is the real deal, the taste difference can't be explained so you must order one. I should have never told you people about this place. Now I won't be able to get a table. I'm so stupid.

Ok, fellow Cavepeople, You will see I neglected a phone number, they don't have a phone. I neglected a website, they don't have one, a facebook, nope, don't have one of those either. No set hours, they open and close when they feel like it. This is what most would call a DIVE taco joint and pass by with a nose in the air in disgust. I call it Mecca. I call it simply, Paradiso del Taco. A bit expensive because of it's location but it is truly the place to go and most people won't tell anyone else for fear of everyone hearing. Well, you know how dumb I am so here goes.

My typical order: 3 Chicken Tacos and a drink for $6. Best damn Tacos you will ever eat. Grilled Chicken on soft flour tortillas with onion, lettuce and cilantro with bottles of sauce on the counter so you can do it your way. The Carne Asada Fries are the most expensive menu item at $12 but are the most amazing fried you will EVER eat. Don't pass it up, you will regret it on the plane home.
